Hi Chris,
With thinking more about your description in the context with Velvet, it
seems quite plausible -- and even points to it when considered and pictured,
especially when Velvet is suggested as causing the loss of your other fish
previously. Not always easy to pinpoint a disease just from a verbal
description, as it still may be vague to the reader -- as it was to me earlier.
Maybe another way to describe it would be as much finer (smaller) looking Ich
appearance.
I seem to recall you saying you have invertibrates in this tank, although
I could be wrong. If you do, they won't tolerate this formalin/copper
treatment and should be removed. I would also move your Cory catfish and treat
it separately at half-dose. Formalin is toxic to any scale-less fish such as
Cory's. I'm not that concerned about the copper used in this product, as
Interpet uses chelated copper, just as the first two Velvet medications I
mentioned to you do. Chelated copper (as copper sulfate) is not nearly as
toxic a unchelated copper. If you can find Aquarisol near you, it doesn't
contain any formaldahyde, but only has chelated copper. This would be safer for
your Cory -- but as I said, if you can't get it just use the Interpet med at
half-strength and keep an eye on this fish. It (the med, at half-strength)
may not be strong enough to cure the Cory of Velvet, so you may need to
increase it slightly. At the first signs of distress, do a partial water
change if needed.
