[tropical fish club] ich,but not ich

Hi Ray. I am going with the velvet theory; it does look very much like ich but smaller and defiantly raised above the surface of the fish, the only strange thing is none of the other fish in the tank are showing any signs of infection.

I have had the tank at 29c now for a few days, and the velvet meds in for six days, I did a full dose at first but my bristle nosed plec didn't look happy so I did a 20% water change and he now seems to be tolerating it o.k.

I am intending to do a 30% water change tomorrow (day seven) and re-dose the tank at ¾ dose.

As I understand it the anti velvet and slim coat disease meds do actually treat a lot of other diseases as well including ich, so I can only hope I am on the right road.

He does look a bit more active today so I am cautiously hopeful, I think he might have a bit of fin rot going on as well, he's feeler things look a bit eaten away and are splitting at the ends but I will worry about that later.

Just one more question, how long would you say it is safe to run the tank at 29c, I have
b/n plec, balloon mollies, neons, platty's, Corry's and danio's in it?

Thanks again for all the advice.
Chris.
