Its probably safe to assume the pond is cycled by now and that your reading of 0 nitrates is more due to the algae and other plants consuming it all. What this means is that as the algae problem is brought under control, these levels, especially nitrate will still fluctuate for a while yet, until the entire situation stabilizes. It is going to take some time for the plants to out compete the algae for food supply, that isn't an overnight type of fix to a problem such as this.
The best advice at this time will be to monitor and track your progress, including regular water testing. If you notice the fish having a problem or plants dying, algae problem getting worse, etc. then I would suggest posting again with all of your current stats and we should all put our heads together to see if there is a better or different method that will better help you achieve your desired and much needed outcome.
Congrats on your progress... that is a big first step in the right direction.

But update to previous post. Fish looking good, amonia 0 to 0.25
Nitrite 0 (was 5+ on 5.8.10), nitrate 0 (was 40 on 5/8/10), ph very high at least 8.4 to 8.8 (as from the beginning). Pond very green with algae but have only today (with new filter for double the water volume and only 5 small goldfish) put UV lamp on. Still running old (under volume filter in conjunction with new). Have put duckweed into pond a few days ago (loads) and have put loads of oxiginating plants (difficult to see how these are getting on as water is green). Have planted marginal plants but very early days.
Will the ph stay at this high level, or is my pond still cycling?
I hav not put any chemicals at all in at this stage!
