Looks to me like kompact Hydro, which grows like
crazy for me. I however keep it low & bushy, If
those plants were mine I'd cut about 2" down from
the foliage and using a tweezer( so you do not
crush/damage). Once acclimated it will throw out
visible roots for anchorage. I started with one
plant & know how well over 50. Lets see if I can upload a shot.
Ahhh success ..I created a folder called Aquaticz.
Interesting note. I tried a new substrate in this
tank just about 2 months ago. It is called
Oil-Dri and is actually an automotive product for
cleaning up spills. I used two bags in this tank.
The cost ...LOL........... still makes me laugh.a
whopping 12 dollars! Initially the tank went
through the changes you would expect, not clear
algea etc. I did frequent WC at 50@ every other
day for the first week and also I fertilized the
substrate with a product call Osmocote Plus (
available at HD) . It has a good NPK ratio. I
used gel caps to set them deep in the substrate
with tweezers. You want to get it way down. This
substrate absorbs the fertilizers unlike inert
gravel as it is a clay product fired at a high
temperature and has what is called a high CEC.
BTW you can get Oil_Dri at Walmart in the auto
dept. I would rinse well but not swish around
like regular gravel as you will creaet more dust.
I am going to pre fertilize the substrate in
another container for at least two months. I just
put in some
<http://www.aquaticplantcentral.com/forumapc/plantfinder/details.php?id=57>Glossostigma
elatinoides and it is taking root. From what I
have read folks typically use one of the high
dollar substrates in order to grow this popular
ground cover in a high light tank. I do use C02 &
liquid fertilizers as well. If you want to learn
more about that just type Estimative Index in
Google. THe APC site has a lot of material on it,
an idea brought to the for front by Tom Barr.
NOTE - many seem to think CO2 and fertilizing is
an expensive proposition. I certainly used to
think so but experience with these has taught me
differently. I do a 50% WC weekly on my tanks
Hope this helps
Aquaticz.....whose pic is on our home page . (it is the same tank re done)
Regards,
Aquaticz
