When you buy fish that are mated pair or a school of fish and they die for what ever reason it can be a chore to find the right fish to replace them.
This has happened to me before. In the summer I had bought two orangey-red Platys(a male and a female) and two Blue Balloon Rams (also, known as German rams I think) and one of each died. The male ram died and the female Platy died.
So I went back to the fish store and they didn't have any Blue Balloon Rams. At the time I didn't know about German rams.
So, I went back to the fish store and I saw the big Ocean Dusk Platys and I thought the male Platy would be happy that with that and I bought two females. The male Platy was thrilled.
I also bought two Golden Algae Eaters. They are camouflaged against my light coloured gravel and at first I was worried if I couldn't find them. A friend of our neighbor's helped me too find them because I was anxious to find them. lol.
The ram and Platys are friendly to each other.I think that all of my fish like their surroundings and they like to watch the aquarium channel on tv.
lol.
