I will try read through this in more depth bit by bit. I am dyslexic, and it takes me a while to get all the info in. But i will get there.
Thank you to you all for helping me so much. I have been dosing the water i am adding to the tanK, not the whole tank, i got that right, but i dont think ive added enough. There is some good news at least his back is very well healed already. Im just worried by so much salt, you all have more experience than me, its just i have never put so much salt in before.

For an easy example I will use a ten gallon tank. First day of injury I add 1/2 teaspoon of salt per gallon split between 2 doses. So about 2.5 teaspoons of salt. Next day I do a partial water change of 50% for open wounds like you descibed. So the water being added to the tank is 5 gallon so it need 2.5 teaspoons of salt plus I add another half teaspoon of salt per gallon so I have a total of 1 teaspoon per gallon for goldies and other hard water fish. So you are with me on this first water change day I added 7.5 teaspoons of salt with the 5 teaspoons being split into 2 doses. The next day a 50% water change and add a teaspoon of salt per gallon used which is 5 in this example. Evaporation is not a concern with daily water changes as very little evaporates between

When you do the 50% water change only add 1/2 teaspoon per gallon which in our example is 5 gallon so 2.5 teaspoons add to the water. Continue this for about 3 days then stop adding salt and each water change will reduce the salt content. You need to do this for all meds used in such cases. I do not remember the dosing of melafix to use it in the example. You only dose the water you are changing and not the whole tanks volume.

The key here is to count the gallons of water removed and add the salt needed for that many gallons because these are done less frequently evaporation plays a factor. Any more water needed to top off the tank is added without salt. With my tank only getting water changes about once a month currently, I top off each week and know about how much it uses so reduce the salt by 1 gallon during my water change as it needs about a gallon a week of water for evaporation.
