You have been given great advice. Do all you can before trying adding ice. It is a matter of extremes. Most tropicals are not stressed by 80F. Some of the cooler water fish may show stress at these temp. like goldfish. Mollies come from shallow ditches from southern USA and central america. They can tolerate 90F. You need to try and figure out who has the least heat tolerance and then figure what there extreme would be. Ice is a last measure. I will tell you how to do it as safely as possible. I have used ice several times when AC went out.
For the all of the list I said last resort to use ice. Take soda bottles 16-20 ounce size. Fill them about half full of water and freeze them on there side. Once frozen bust the ice by hitting it on the edge of a table leaving it in large pieces. Fill the bottle with water. I then put a string around the neck and tie it to the output of my filter. This way the water runs past it fairly fast so the water does not get cooled quickly and limits cold pockets of water that can shock the fish. The down side to this system is you need to keep it up and not let the water get to normal temp. and the go right back up. Try to aviod the water temp changing several times a day as these can be more stressful for the fish than just dealing with the heat.

The thing that is worrying me is the heat her in Sydney and the effect its having or will have in my tank.I have a 4 foot tank...neons,mollies,golden barb,cherry barb and kuhli loach...i try to keep the temp24-28 celsius..my friend has looked at th water and ph,nitratse etc are fine...
