[tropical fish club] Eheim 2329 cycle time?

 

Hi All, I have two Eheim 2329 wet and dry filters (one on a tank at work and one I have just installed on a tank at home) Both were bought second hand.

One cycles really quickly and as soon as the float changes position the cycle restarts whereas the other one seems to fully fill taking about 10mm of water out of the tank before the cycle restarts. I suspect the later case is how the filter is meant to work and my question is......

How do I get the first filter to behave in the same way as the second?
