Fungus Eliminator has changed to Fungus Clear in tablet form but the ingredients are the same. That would be my first choice when dealing with anything fungal and/or bacterial with bettas. It's the potassium dichromate in combination with the nitrofurazone and furazolidone that they respond so well to, plus it is also safe to use as a preventive without causing any harm to the betta. (I do not endorse the use of this medication for just any fish with a fungal and/or bacterial problem and I want that to be known by all who read this info. Some fish respond better to specific ingredients, this just happens to be one that bettas respond to very well compared to all other options.)

Dawn or Ray would be better for this type of question. I've used Jungle Labs Fungus Eliminator and Maroxy with success for fungus.
This could be Columnaris which looks like of like a fungus because its white. http://www.americanaquariumproducts.com/Columnaris.html I have used Furan 2 with success on this many times with my angel fish.
As always perfect water for the fish to live in is super important as some medications don't work well or can cause more problems with ammonia or nitrite's in the water.
