Wow, that is something about the section of their heads
that flash!! Never heard of that before!
I will keep an eye out for Rainbow fish at my local Petsmart and Petco.
I don't have a "fish" pet store very near me, there is a very large
one about an hours drive from me. They are suppose to have just
about every kind of fish for both fresh and salt water.
It is called the Ocean Floor. When I have some money, I want to go check it
out!

Thanks, Larry!

Our local PetsMart seems to have a few species on a random basis. I've
seen the dwarf neons, turquoise, macullochi, australis, and bosemani, but
not on any regular basis. A lot of good fish aren't popular enough for
the chain stores. If you have a locally owned pet store they may be
willing to order for you. Or you can try AquaBid but check the sellers
rep first. I just checked there and there were 25 listings for rainbowfish.
BTW, something that seldom seems to be mentioned about rainbowfish, at
least the Melanotania group. They have a section from the tip of the
nose to the beginning of the dorsal fin that they can flash on and off.
Mostly the males trying to impress the females or each other, but I've
even seen a few females do it. I had some M. synergos that looked like
they were turning a neon light on and off.
