My Betta looks horrible and is getting worse. Any advice? Can anyone tell me why this might have happened to avoid this in the future. Has anyone ever euthanized a fish? He looks so bad I wonder if he is being tortured by this condition.
The tank has ecocomplete and plants, and was cycled before i put him in and when I check the water it is ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate I only saw a mild change once or twice, otherwise 0. I have been doing the water changes regularly.
Everything I read says it is poor water quality. What else could I do to my water?
He is swollen at least 3 times his size from head to tail. All of his scales were sticking up yesterday. Today his whole body is white/pale i can barely see his scales and his gills are sticking way out. I have been putting Furan 2 in, and I got API general cure too just to try to save him. He is a new fish, I've had him about a month and he got sick soon after. I thought I cured him with methylene blue, but he got sick again and got severely sick fast. He is still breathing but otherwise just laying on his side.
Also wondering, do you all wear gloves when you clean your tanks? I haven't been - I just wash my hands well before and after. What is the usual practice?
