What is your fishless cycling method? I saw you mentioned in another thread that's what you do. I am trying it now. You are the only one that I think I read has done it.
Do you let ammonia levels come down to zero before dosing again, or do you try to keep ammonia level high and watch fit nitrite to go to zero?
Also, how high do you aim to get ammonia levels?
And, how many weeks does it take? :)
I heard both methods. I was doing the first method, then switched to the second method, but my ph dropped way too low and the cycling stopped. I'm back to method 1 now, adding about 15cc of ammonia to 50 gallon tank, every other day. Ammonia goes to 3-4, then to zero within 2 days. Nitrite goes down to 1 between doses, then up to 5. I'm waiting for ammonia and nitrite to both go to zero at the same time within 24 hours of dosing the tank. I was almost there when the ph crashed.
I also switched from ammonium chloride to ammonium hydroxide.
I find it all very interesting and I love the science and chemistry behind it.
I really wanted to understand and have it stable before stocking it.
