Hi. Well my Gourami is looking great today really attacking he's food now and he's cloudy eyes look back to normal.
The only problem now is he is in an un-cycled tank (30litres) and the nitrite is building up, I didn't want to change out the water for fear of weakening the meds but I had to do a 20% change for fear of poisoning the fish.
I guess I can re dose the tank next week if need be.
Yes I was aware that I took a huge risk switching meds as I did but felt if I didn't try something he would die anyway.
As I said before the problem was the fungus didn't look like I expected it to by the descriptions I read on various sites, so I dismissed it as the culprit.
So I am slowly learning more about fish keeping, like don't buy fish from pets at home(ich) and things don't always seem as they appear, and how hard it can be to identify problems.
Ray. It did look very ich like to begin with; the cottony strands only appeared in the last few days, so no reflection on your diagnoses, it is hard trying to visualise things from a written description especially as it keeps changing as the problem progresses, the fact that I don't know what I am looking at doesn't help.
I'm sure everyone on this site is glad we have such a knowledgeable fish guru willing to help us all, so thanks again, and keep up the good work.
Chris.
