You have company here. Many of us are saddened by the way the fish are being altered.

>I live in Houston and have been in and out of fresh water fish for 60 years. I have always been into normal non weird fish. Used to raise and sp awn Angel Fish. Love Tetras, guppies. Things like that.

>Here in Houston clubs have just about folded except for one loosely run group meeting at homes with no real agenda. Same goes for Aquarium magazines. The young people in the hobby today seem to go for salt water or realy strange exotic almost fish. They are not into platies, guppies and swordtails. We still do have a lot of local shops, but prices are very high. I could afford more livestock when I had a paper route then I can afford today. I am still shocked over what has happened to fresh water Angelfish . The types sold today for the most part are freak shows. There was a time when NATURAL was looked upon as a good thing. Now fish are injected with glow dies and everything else imagenable. In my estimation, the hobby is somewhat ruined. But that is me, just an old guy talking.

>So I have decided to be a club of one, and do what I enjoy and keep common variety fish as I did as a kid 60 years ago.
