I tried to explain it as simply as I could.  If you look at more technical explanations you will hear words such as "surface tension" and more in depth explanations of chemical reactions and chemical compounds, the breakdown of such things, etc, but then a person has to first understand what each of those terms means.  This was the only way I knew to explain it without having to give a vocabulary lesson at the same time.  ;-)

Excellent thats put it in plain english. You should place this as a library article.

A mechanical filter can go in either due to fact that its clearing up large particle that you can see.
