No I stopped when I put in the first fish. But just before I got 0
ammonia, 0 nitirte, 10-15 nitrate. And I did a 30% water change then as
well. I did the 90% about 5 days later after the 2nd set of fish died.

If that ammonia was "sudsy", it had certainly lost its oomph :-). I
gave it a vigorous shaking and could only get a few air bubbles. Of
course it could have some other contaminant in it. I guess next time
I'll just piss in the tank :-).
