Les,
Thank you for your input. My issues remain the same when I consider AZGardens for plants. I have nobody to split orders with and I have nowhere to go with a large amount of plants at a time. Most often I am looking for 2 - 3 of something just to get it started in one of my tanks or to compliment an already fully planted tank. Currently there are only 2 plants I am seeking and the crispus is one of them, subwassertang is the other.
I will just have to keep looking until I find what I need. Fish have taught me many things, but patience has been the most valuable lesson. :-)

Hi Dawn,
Their shipping rates really are set up more for the commercial operation rather
than for the private person. If you can find two or three others to go in with
you the shipping becomes more manageable. They do have different shipping
rates if you are willing to assume some of the risk. Their main saving grace is
their access to some of hard to find items. My experiences with them
have always been positive. Hope that helps.

Thanks Les. I am aware of AZGardens, but I have heard very mixed reviews about
them, most of them negative. My last visit to their website showed they require
a minimum order and shipping rates were quite expensive, so I chose not to order
anything from them.
Have you ordered from them before? Can I ask for your person opinion of your
experience with them?

Dawn,
Arizona Aquatic Gardens(azgardens.com) frequently list them for around $4. They
only list sprouted bulbs so you could be sure you are getting what you pay for.
I've always found them fairly easy to deal with.

Thanks Larry! I am attached to the crispus variety, in part because of the
flowers they produce. Yrs ago I had a designer tank set up and I filled it with
crispus bulbs... when the bulbs flowered, the flowers grew up out of the water
and it was a very pretty sight. My youngest daughter was only a few yrs old
back then and she fell in love with the flowers also. Every time I would do a
water change she would tell me "don't hurt the pretty flowers mama". I am
planning to let her set up a larger tank this winter and was hoping to surprise
her with some crispus bulbs for it... will just have to keep looking.
Funny 10 - 12 yrs ago crispus was so easy to find around here (and it was cheap)
and now nobody has been able to get it for the past few yrs.

The package just says "hybrid aponogeton bulbs". My new ones aren't up
enough yet to tell what I've got, but the last time there were several
different varieties. The crispus the ones with the long ruffled
leaves, right? If so, I got 2 of those out of the last batch. But no
guarantees - this batch could be totally different.
Note that undulatus also has the ruffled leaves - mine could have been
that or could have been a hybrid between the two. They finally outgrew
my 30 and 40 gallon tanks and I gave them to a friend with larger tanks
- last time I asked he still had them and thought they were great.
I've never tried propagating them - if I get any crispus/undulatus this
time maybe I'll try it.
