I've used Permoxyn to sterilize plants, especially to kill snail eggs,
but I don't know how effective it is on algae. Their web site says it
is toxic to some algae, but how toxic and which algae?
Foster & Smith says Algae Destroyer Advanced works on hair algae - I
haven't tried it for that purpose but it works great in my planted tanks
to control normal green algae.
