I've used Furan 2 on my angles several times for this and it has always worked
though I've had to treat several times to fully clear the issue.

Columnaris will not get fuzzy -- you are thinking of Fungus that does that.
This disease will cover the body with a smooth white coating though. If you can
transfer the fish to a heated hospital tank, you can use Tetracycline below a pH
of 7.5; otherwise, you can use Oxytetracyline. However, they will interfere
with your nitrifying bascteria if used in the main, filtered tank. If you're
treating in the main tank, you can use Furan II. As this same (and similar)
questions have been asked before, you may possibly also expect a controversial
answer which may be more subjective rather than objective. In my experience,
Furan II is one of the best medications out their, and it's advertised not to
interfere with your filter's good bacteria.
