It seems so odd to think about it being so hot where you are when its 15 F here.
I am sorry to hear your fish are not doing well. That fan blowing across the
water should help, make sure the water is rippling with the air moving across
it, you may need tip the fan, make sure it can't fall in though or you'll all be
goners...
Australia is on my bucket list of things that I must do before I pass. I want
to go to Steve Erwin's Zoo. Do you know was it damaged by the floods?
I assume since you still have a fish tank running it must have missed you?

Thank you for all your help...sadly I have lost 3 neons..the heat her in Sydney
hellish the last three days between 39-44 (102-111 F) and as i type this at 2am
still 33 (90F) with 60% humidity.
Have purchased some more airstones from my friend and a small fan to blow across
as well as employing th soda bottle method that John memtioned...will let you
know how it goes..the temp in tank has cooled slightly soo..
