You can get the Plexiglass at the same place where you
would have gotten the regular 1/4 inch plate glass, the
glass shop.
BUT????? Cheaper than the glass? I would have to see it
to believe it! Its the other way around here in PA.
Also thickness????? the plastic will have more give than the
glass UNLESS---it is the same thickness and again this adds to the cost. This being the case, it may buckel from the weight of
the light on top if not thick enough, even if the light extends from tank side to tank side.
Be carefull and do not plug the light in until you are satisfied with
everything and its support.
Last, the plastic will do what we call "craze"; very tiny lines
in it and making it unclear over time. Even if it is cheaper out
your way, who wants to do the job twice?
