Larry, I can give you the benefit of the doubt, in that you know to do
weekly water changes including on a tank that no longer has fish, but I really
have no way of actually knowing this without your input. It would be unfair
to you if I just assumed these things, as I wouldn't consider putting them
into the equation/scenario of what may have gone wrong. I can't know that
you (or anyone) would know to change water in an unoccupied tank. BTW, with
your doing twice-weekly water changes, I'm assuming that you've checked your
tap water for nitrates or heavy additions of chloramine resulting in
possible high ammonia levels (?). This in itself would be adding fresh nutrients
to the tank, for the algae to feed on, every time you make a PWC -- but I
trust I don't need to tell you this,
