My suggestion would be to wait. Finding other species of fish to be temporary companions is not a good idea, and it isn't the same as more of their own species. I have seen hatchets do just fine by themselves if the conditions in the tank are right.

Hi everybody! I have a well-established 30 gallon tank with 1 betta, 1 rubber-lipped catfish (pleco?), 1 old but hard working snail and now I am down to 1 silver hatchet. I can't get any at my local fish/pet stores as they don't ship them in the summer (I'm in Georgia). I understand that they need to be in groups. Any suggestions?
