Just a couple of comments. Some of the plants sold in chain pet stores
like Petco and PetsMart aren't really aquatic plants. They'll live under
water for a while and then die. The unaware owner then goes back and
buys some more - nice source of repeat sales for the stores. For a good
reference on real aquatic plants look at:

Click on a plant to get a pop-up with more info.
If the CO2 gets to be too much of a hassle, Flourish Excel (not
Flourish) is an alternative way of getting carbon to the plants. About
75%-85% as good as a CO2 injector and a lot less work. But don't
overdose, some plants are not happy with too much.
Good luck.
