Chris,
It's conceivable that the bloated fish would appear smaller now, with it
losing the excess girth. But if you're saying that since it has returned to
its normal size, that it is now shrinking in length, I've never heard of it.
It may be feasible that although it's again eating normally, that it's
apparent ongoing intestinal issue may be preventing it from taking up the
nutrients in its digestive system, which may appear as it getting smaller (having
less mass) but it's skeletal structure would prevent it from getting any
shorter -- unless it's somehow losing calcium, which I see no reason for.
If it appears that the Flubenazole is not addressing the stringy poo
problem, consider looking for the Hikari medication I mentioned, but generally
these medications need a number of applications to effect a cure. See what
happens after this second application. Hopefully, the flashing will dissipate
too, with a second or third application of the med.
There are liquid garlic supplements (by SeaChem, Kent Marine, etc.) which
are said to increase the fishes appetites, but if this fish in question is
now eating normally, there wouldn't seem to be a need for it.
