All good things come to an end.
As for the pumps.
When you get to buying pumps check the watts used to give you the flow rate and head. There are Pumps on the market now that have the flow capacity at the required head but use much less power than traditional electric motor powered pumps.
The less watts used the cheaper the electric bill will be to run your waterfall.
