Thanks, Ray, I was concerned about the GH going
from 6 to 7 overnight or from morning to evening.
You put my mind at ease.

Connie,
As your water company reports giving you water from 3 different sources,
they are probably indicating the highest possible hardness readings they may
be delivering at certain times of the year -- perhaps when they draw their
water only from this hardest water source. It's rare if ever, that a water
company having different water sources will draw water from all sources at
one
time, but will switch to another one of their sources only as needed -- or
during shorter periods, may draw from two different sources and mix them --
especially towards the end of the Summer when the water table has dropped
and/or the reservoirs have become depleted.
The hardness will not rise in the aquarium of its own accord, but will if
any rock or gravel contains hardening minerals. I don't know why you seem
to
be getting slightly different test results, but these kits are know to be
fairly accurate -- and certainly well accurate enough for aquarium purposes.
You have a good idea where your hardnesses are, and there's no need to be
concerned about any perceived fluctuations. They're also fine for most
aquarium fishes, excluding those preferring much harder water or very much
lower
pH.
