Sorry Connie I was hoping some magic would be in that bottle.
Well, I tried 2 bacteria bottles and they did not work - API Quick Start and Tetra Safe Start (formerly biopspira - note to Ray, Shark Aquarium swore by the later). My LFS has something that is kept in the refrigerator but they were out of it. I'm fishless cycling. My LFS told me to stop and just add fish and a bacteria bottle, but Im not ready to give up on it yet. I have nitrite and nitrate and it goes up and down depending in the ammonia I put in. Just no bottle has brought ammonia and nitrate down like it would have if it was really cycled.
To the previous poster I LOVE the chemistry, it is so interesting. I know the bacteria bottles might be a waste of money but I enjoy experimenting with them.
FYI can remove yourself from a group if you want though. It is from the group homepage on Yahoo. Good luck. Glad you are back on the hobby whichever way you choose. Sounds like you know what you are doing.

Might be time to call Dr. Tim. His nitrobacter additive should start
working the same day it's added, and a full compliment of fish can be added by
the very next day -- supposedly with zero ammonia, as the tank should be
cycled by his stuff.
