Hi Connie,
i have always had tanks read 0 or near 0 ammonia when they are cycled. I have never had them read 2 ppms when they were fully cycled. I use Amquel Plus but it also gives a false reading in amounts never that it is there.
I guess I would stop using it and wait for it to read 0 before you add any fish.
