No. The design of the filter does not alow that. The external filter I used before did do that but this one discharges the filtered water at gravel level.
I had thought maybe a small air pump and air line might help.

I have two 5inch Sydonsis, two blue rams, 6 Cardinals, two small Corys and plants but am getting scum on the top of my tank. Before I set up this tank the two big cats were in a tank filtered by an external filter, during the setting up of my new tank the filter was removed and replaced by a smallish internal.
I never had scum with an external filter.
I just remove the top 'layer' of water when doing water change and that removes quite a bit of it but I am a bit worried in case it prevents the uptake of oxygen by the water.
Any help gratefully recieved.
