About the only ones I've seen in the pet stores on a semi-regular basis
are the dwarf neon rainbowfish ( Melanotaenia praecox) and the
Australian rainbowfish(Melanotaenia australis). The dwarfs are great.
They breed at the drop of a hat and they don't eat the young. The
Australians for sale around here are paranoid and hyper - I've bought
several only to watch them panic and kill themselves by hitting the
sides of the tank at full speed - I'd stay away from them.
